Premium Carrier Program - Frequently Asked Questions
The application asks for all associated NSC numbers to be listed. Will all carriers that are associated have to qualify for the Program?
Yes, all companies must qualify individually.
How do I know if my overall NSC Rating is better than the provincial median score?

What is a Certificate of Recognition (COR) program?
COR is a voluntary WorkSafeBC health and safety program that involves training and audits. Several different WorkSafeBC – approved industry agencies recognize companies who show that they have high health and safety management systems or return-to-work programs. More information about COR can be found here: http://www.worksafebc.com/insurance/partners_program/default.asp including WorkSafeBC’s recognized certifying partners.
How do I know what my WorkSafeBC discount is and if it qualifies?
Every year, WCB sends out a rate notification letter that states what your discount/surcharge is for the coming year. In addition to the discount, CVSE will also be considering other WorkSafeBC measurements, such as injury rate and injury duration, and how your company fares in comparison to other companies of like size in the same sector. Send a copy of your WorkSafeBC rate notification letter with your application so that it can be verified between CVSE and WCB.
How do I know what my ICBC discount is?
Every year at time of renewal, ICBC sends out a letter stating what your discount/surcharge will be for the coming year. If your letter states that you have a 50% discount or more, your company qualifies for this component of the Premium Carrier program. Send a copy of that letter with your application.
What happens if my company is not insured with ICBC?
Letters of merit from private insurance companies will be considered. Ask your insurance company to submit a letter or equivalent that identifies whether your company has a better than average claims record.
I don’t have more than 20 vehicles in my fleet, can I still apply?
Not at this time. This is just the first step in the process of creating a new Program. We will be working on criteria for all of the NSC Risk Bands over the coming year. Keep an eye on our CVSE website for updates.
Do I have to have my company’s information on the CVSE website?
No, you can choose whether or not you want to be listed on the website by selecting the appropriate response at the bottom of the application and initialling inside the Yes or No box.
Can I fax my application in instead of mailing it?
Yes, please fax your completed application and your documented evidence that shows that you qualify (the WCB letter of assessment, the ICBC discount letter and/or COR certificate) to 250-952-0578.
How long will it take for my application to be reviewed and approved?
